It’s really happening. We’re about to hit pause on our “real lives” and once again depart for places unknown. It doesn’t feel quite real—we’ve been daydreaming about this trip for so long it almost feels like a figment of our imagination—but it must be. There’s no other explanation for the packing lists and suitcases strewn wildly around the house.
In six days (and counting!), our family will leave behind our beloved home in Nashville, our family and friends, our pre-schools and my job. We’ll miss the lives we love, but we know this will be the trip of a lifetime.
And the thing is, Derek and I already TOOK the trip of a lifetime. We traveled the world for a year on our honeymoon, and we kept a record of our trip at One Year on Earth. Now that we’ve added two young children to the mix, we know we’re in for an entirely different sort of adventure. And we can’t wait.
